November 2023

This country has been on my bucket list literally for decades, and yet it ended up one of my last on the UN 193 list.
But let’s give it away right now. This one raises to my Top 10 countries list.

So where do I begin. It starts with arriving at an airport like no other, very tidy and welcoming, friendly officials and everything feels so personal. The tour guide and the driver who drove us around were just out of this world. Polite, attentative and well informed. So, of course the landscape is beautiful, the monastries impressive and so on. But it’s the entire package which makes this country so special. People are kind, respectful and curious at the same time. I guess Buddhism shows its positive impact. It’s also impressive to see how this country went from the 18th to the 21st century in 25 years and managed to keep its identity.

I think the photos speak for themselves, including the famous Tiger’s nest walk. So go ahead and be another one of the few tourists they let in per year, way to go to avoid over-tourism.
