At home I got a few astonishing looks when letting people know that I am going to visit El Salvador. I really enjoyed it’s neighbor Nicaragua not too long ago and I really liked it.

So I was not surprised and my hope was confirmed. This place is nothing like what one has heard about over the last years. My driver tells me that things have changed to the better over the last months since the new president took office and put an end to gang violence.

It’s really refreshing to see how the nation is enjoying “new life”. The climate is comfortable and the views nice to breathtaking. The first day, a lazy Sunday afternoon, brought me from the humid coast to the capital and then up to close by Volcan El Boqueron where I was sharing the place with many locals enjoying their free day. It is very clean here, everything is organised and people are curious and very friendly, most of all they seem to be in a good mood. The one thing I am not so keen about is how much US consumer style has taken over this society, but hey, it’s their choice. Stay put for more…
