One could say why Italy again!ย

Well for starters we are still in Covid-19 times which makes flying not the most desirable way to travel, plus wine and Tuscany make up for a great combination ๐Ÿท๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น.

First stop was the heart of Chianti, Greve with its uprising and fresh new Chianti Classico wines which stand for a new style, leaving the last critics behind that they are not first rate. Chianti countryside with its rolling hills and castles (especially the gigantic Castello di Brolio) make up for great day trips.

Moving on, while passing Florence and Siena for short stints, to one of my longstanding favorite, Montalcino, not only for its wines but also the majestic location over the Col dโ€™Orcia with magnificent views. Driving back country roads with my โ€žold Ladyโ€œ (i.e. the 17 year old Lexus SC430 convertible) and visiting great wineries such Castello Banfi on their best soil Poggio alle Mura on great summer days is hard to excel.

Last but not least we took country roads over Massa Marittima to Bolgheri, where I have never been before, stopping on the way home in the old and famous sea town of Castiglioncello where we definitely hit the summer crowds again.
