Even though it has only been a mere 5 months since we came back from the Caribbean and Central America last October during our transamerica2021 expedition it feels good to be on tour again. For me however it is different this time. I will only join my friends for the very beginning of the second part of the Transamerica trip which was cut short due to Covid. Besides the fact that I have been to South America numerous times (and it certainly is one of my favorite regions in the world) I have to focus on my wine education with a test and a further block seminar session coming up very soon. As one says you can’t have it all.

But first I can enjoy a few days in another off the beaten track destinations: Cabo Verde – for those understanding latin words to a certain degree this means green cape which is certainly not the case for the island of Sal. It is mostly a sandy brownish desert which was not liveable for humans until the 19th century. Today it’s the most tourist frequented island thanks to great beaches and wind.Β

Having said that it blows pretty much all year long and if you want to see the green islands one needs to go south to the islands of Santiago and Fogo which are a hikers’ paradise.
